Update: March 20, 2008 «©NCSX» Siblings Riki and Mami clamber into a mighty mech and go on fast paced missions where mass destruction is the goal. The Nintendo DS conversion of the former N64 and Dreamcast game features a total of 80 levels and a multiplayer wireless function where up to four gamers link up and blast away. The first few missions are simple seek and destroy exercises where the D-pad is used to move the Bangai-O robot and the "X" or "Y" buttons are tapped to fire bouncing missiles and later on, to lash out a sword slash. To perform a forward dash move, press the "A" button while the "B" button fire the primary weapon. The top NDS screen depicts a map of the level and shows the status of the enemies. As each one is destroyed, the word "Broken!" appears below it in red. The action takes place on the touch screen but the control is handled entirely through the face buttons and d-pad. Although the early missions are uncomplicated, things get interesting on stage 7 where a massive barrage of missiles is fired at Bangai-O right at the outset. To counter the impressive show of ordnance, tap the "L" or "R" trigger to unleash a 100-missile barrage of your own to destroy the incoming threat and dismantle the firing cannons as well. Summaries of selected levels Stage 8: Bum rush the ledge on the top of the screen and perform a dash attack to destroy the target. Takes all of 2 seconds to complete. Stage 9: Use missiles to destroy the lines of cannons and then avoid the bugs to blast away the reactors Stage 14: Freeze the foes (press "R" or "L") and then perform a dash attach or fire away to destroy the screen full of mech suits. Stage 15: One move: Press and hold either trigger to blow the blocks into the firing cannons to destroy them all. Stage 16: After blowing up the targets and picking up the oodles of bonuses, use the dash move to push the solid block into the placeholder. Stage 17: The first multi-screen mission where multiple objectives must be accomplished before the next mission is unlocked. Beware: the third room is a doozy.
