NCS Product Synopsis
Update: May 17, 2006

«©NCSX» Originally released to Japanese arcades in November 2004, the beat goes on when Beatmania IIDX 11 reaches the Playstation 2 today. RED stands for Revolutionary Energetic Diversification Version. New features include a score comparison graph, a beginner's mode for new inductees who get to play every song at level 1, and level 8+ for masterful mashers capable of pounding out the beats with frightening accuracy and speed.

In the coin-op cabinet, IIDX Red was linked to Konami's e-Amusement network for unlocking new songs for a total of 320 tracks. The storage confines of the PS2 DVD will however scale the song selection down to a total of 80+ songs including 52 tracks from the arcade version of the game and 8 new songs for the home conversion. Although the track list is not as replete as the coin-op original, the selections that are included consist of crowd pleasers such as INJECTION OF LOVE, You Really Got Me, KISEKI (IIDX RED Edit), Wonder Bullfighter, SOLITON BEAM, and many more. Modes in the game include the standard Arcade Mode, a Training Mode, a Free Mode, and the afore-mentioned Beginner's Mode for children and new inductees to the Bemani fold.

This product listing includes a copy of the V-Rare Soundtrack 14.

NCS Game Notes
» In the intro of the game, the color is red and all of the Beatmania logos (first to current) drop on the left side of the screen followed by a red crystal sphere with music genres peppered on its surface before the title screen pops up. Leave it alone and a demonstration begins which shows "How to Play" with perfect timing and tapping by two virtual AI controller Bemaniacs who hit the cues on screen without a glitch or whimper. Only GREAT rankings are in evidence here with Max Combos that build up on the meter on the bottom of the screen. Continue watching and the next demonstration features a video which shows off Easter Island statues with earphones as they bop and hop to the music. The Max Combo meter reaches 413 in this track sequence if every cue is played perfectly.

» Press START and the game prompts the player to select Original 7KEYS or Original 5KEYS mode for the Beatmania controller. Gamers may also play with the Dual Shock controller...but we just don't recommend it. Next, players may select the ARCADE mode (16:9) or the ORIGINAL mode (4:3) for the screen setting. After inputting your DJ Name (we went with B!ZN1Z), the default mode selections pop up as follows:

ARCADE MODE
EXPERT MODE
BEGINNER'S MODE
FREE MODE
TRAINING MODE

On the second "page," the following options appear:

ORIGINAL COURSE SETTING

» The Beginner's Mode is a tapping and scratching tutorial which teaches the proper ways of moving your hand on the turntable and hitting the buttons with simple animation sequences.

» In the Training Mode, a tally on the right side of the screen keeps track of your performance with rankings of

JUST GREAT
GREAT
GOOD
BAD
POOR

Your Max Combos are also tracked and tallied.

» The Gallery Collection features 59 pieces of artwork from the game - all of the selections must be unlocked by fulfilling certain conditions.

» A sampling of songs and their videos:

Perfect World by N.A.R.D featuring masayo
The video features starbursts, stars, colorful letters, spinning stars, and other psychedelic and kaleidoscopic motions evocative of the 60s.

Car of Your Dreams by DAVE&NUAGE
A vehicle cruises through neon lit streets followed by a glimpse of a glittering disco ball followed by race queens posing and standing around. One of the girls stands betwixt two cars and signals the start of a race between two speedsters.
