 NCS Game Synopsis

«©NCSX» NCS originally stocked the Gamecube version of Donkey Kong Jungle Beat in 2004 which was an innovative platform game controlled entirely with a drum accessory called the Taru-Konga. The Wii update of the game does away with the drums and revamps the control scheme so that everything is controlled with the Nunchuk and Wii Remote. The updated controls are as follows:

 Nunchuk Thumbstick - Movement
Wii Remote A Button - Jump
Wii Remote B Button - Duck
Wii Remote or Nunchuk Motion - Clap

With the controller revamp, DKJB plays like a champ and making DK clap has never been easier where banana-sized fingers create a sonic boom. Kong also engages in fights with end-level apes and other bosses where the Nunchuk and Wii Remote are wagged to and fro to throw left hooks and right jabs. This type of ape-powered fighting puts the term "Jungle Beat" in a new light. In between stages, Kong engages in side challenges including one where he rides a wildebeest named Mooshin.

Region Lock-out

Please note Japanese Wii games will not boot on USA or European Wii consoles due to the inherent region-lockout on Japanese Wii game discs. A Freeloader (and a Wii with 3.2U firmware) is required to play Japanese Wii games.

NCS Game Notes
» Six save slots are available - players may choose an image of Donkey Kong, a red squirrel, a bull, a blue bird, a porpoise, or a Mii as the icon to use for the save data file.

» Before the game starts, you're instructed to "bang" the Nunchuk and Wii Remote in the air to simulate the smacking of the bongos.

» The controls have been modified from the Gamecube original. The Wii controls are as follows:

Nunchuk analog stick - Movement
Nunchuk Z button - Duck
Wii Remote A button - Jump
Wii Remote B button - Duck
Wave Wii Remote or Nunchuk - Ignite clap power which can be aimed up, left, and right

» Enemy creatures occasionally pepper the landscape. To defeat the small ones, simply clap in their direction and they'll get dizzied. Clap again and they're destroyed. Other creatures require that DK hop on top of them and then punch downwards. For the larger beasts, jump on top of them and then wag the controllers feverishly so Donky Kong can beat them into a jelly.

» The first end-level boss is sort of like a Rasta-Gorilla who wears dreds. To defeat him, wave the controllers to punch and press the Z button to avoid its blows. If you win, a big jeweled crown appears on screen as your prize.

» The next stage features a galloping ride across a snowy expanse where Donkey Kong mounts a wildebeest named Mooshin and collects ice-encased bananas, jumps over black rocks, and destroys huge snowballs with Wii Remote wagging action.

» The second boss is a big bird who's carrying a purple egg. DK has to hop and hold onto the egg and then pound on it with his fists to crack it. The bird will flap its wings to blow DK off course and occasionally shoots out feather projectiles.

» The third stage of the game pays homage to the electric spark creatures from Donkey Kong Junior.

» When DK dies, he falls into a black abyss and a thick mat of leaves closes together to serve as the final curtain.
