NCS Product Synopsis
Update: February 24, 2010

«©NCSX»Espgaluda II is a vertically scrolling shooter but firing away isn't the only gist of the game. There's also gems to be collected. Lots of them which burst out of enemies when they're destroyed. Players will also find themselves weaving and dodging a maze of bullets which spiral and scatter throughout the screen. By strategizing and going into three types of Kakusei mode, players can maximize the score multiplier, throw up an auto-barrier, and affect bullet velocity. Game modes in the Xbox 360 port include an Xbox mode, a Novice mode, Arcade mode, and an Arrange mode for a bit of variation on the horizontal shooting action. In the sequel, a girl named Asagi joins the cast of Ageha and Tateha from the original Espgaluda as a playable hero. She's a scrawny runt at the outset of the game but watch how she does when she's at maximum power.

Pass the title screen and the options that appear are as follows:

» Play
» Score Attack
» Training
» Replay Data
» Tutorial
» Option
» Exit

If you've never played Espgaluda II, it might be worthwhile to visit the Tutorial section which contains multiple helpful primers for the "Black Label," "Xbox 360," and "Arrange" modes of Espgaluda II. If you're willing to rotate your monitor on its side, Espgaluda II features a "TATE" or vertical viewing aspect which is closer to the arcade view than the default "YOKO" horizontal viewing aspect.

NCS Preorder Update

Cave's Makoto Asada has posted an entry on the Cave Official Blog verifying the region-free nature of the Regular Edition of Espgaluda II Black Label:

http://cave-game.cocolog-nifty.com/blog/2010/02/thank-you.html

2010年2月18日 (木)

Thank you

Thank you for the warm messages from all over the world.
Espgaluda II Black Label Normal Edition is region free.
But I'm afraid new games after Espgaluda II Black Label won't be region free.
I assure you that Espgaluda II Black Label Normal Edition will be the last region free game for the time being.

NCS Preorder Update
Update: February 15, 2010
X360 Espgaluda II Black Label Region-Free and Not Region-Free
   The
Regular Edition of ESPGaluda II Black Label that's shipping next week in Japan will be region-free and playable on USA consoles. However, the Limited Edition of the game will be region-locked.

http://kotaku.com/5471899/if-you-want-to-play-espgaluda-ii-read-this-post

"The Limited Edition of EspGaluda II will be region-locked to Japan because we didn't have enough time to get the application in before pressing," says Cave producer Makoto Asada. "However, we were able to make the standard edition region-free in to show our appreciation for the support we have from overseas fans."

NCS Product Synopsis
Update: January 18, 2010
«©NCSX»
After a few weeks of news inertia on Espgaluda II LE, NCS received information over the weekend about how many copies we'll be able to purchase. The confirmed allocation ratio is 1:3 which means we're allowed to buy 1 copy of Espgaluda II Limited Edition for every 3 copies of the regular edition that we've already submitted reservations for.

Since we know how many we'll be receiving, preorders are welcome starting today to ship on February 25, 2010. NCS can guarantee all preorders for the limited edition of Espgaluda II while the reservation period is open. We've already paid for the game and the quantity we've been allocated won't be reduced, sold to another vendor, or otherwise misappropriated. NCS will close preorders once our allocation is sold out. If you've contacted NCS requesting a reservation, we have already held one for you pending your confirmation at the listed price of $146.90.

The Espgaluda II LE package includes a bonus 2-disc soundtrack that is packaged inside the DVD case. A bonus Xbox 360 faceplate featuring Ceceri (viewable on our shopping gallery) is also included in the limited edition of the game. Preorders are welcome to ship on February 25, 2010.

Update: January 13, 2010
Some Japanese vendors have opened up preorders for the limited edition of Espgaluda II and NCS should open them up on our shop in the next few days. We're still waiting for confirmation on the allocation ratio that we'll be allowed to purchase from the distributor. We hear it's going to be 1:4 which, if true, would be better than initially expected.

Update: December 24, 2009

NCS expects to open up preorders for the limited edition of Espgaluda II Black Label next week. Please wait for further updates on the allocation ratio from Cave.

NCS Preorder Synopsis for Regular Edition
Update:
December 16, 2009

«©NCSX» Japanese distributors started preorders for the regular edition of Espgalua II Black Label on the Xbox 360 last night. No one knew if the game would be region-free like Mushihimesama Futari v1.5 was since Cave didn't provide this information on the preliminary preorder offer. Based on the international good will that Cave created with Futari, we're somewhat confident that Espgaluda II is going to be region-free but they'll have to confirm before it's a go. We might shed a tear or three if they decide to region-protect their shmups again.

Espgaluda II is a vertically scrolling shooter but firing away isn't the only gist of the game. There's also gems to be collected. Lots of them which burst out of enemies when they're destroyed. Players will also find themselves weaving and dodging a maze of bullets which spiral and scatter throughout the screen. By strategizing and going into three types of
Kakusei
mode, players can maximize the score multiplier, throw up an auto-barrier, and affect bullet velocity.

Distributors have only started preorders for the regular edition of Espgaluda II thus far and the preorder solicitation mentions that every copy of the first printing includes a bonus 2-disc soundtrack that is packaged inside the DVD case. Furthermore, the allocation of the limited edition of Espgaluda II from Cave is dependent on the preorder quantity for the regular edition. For example, if NCS preorders 500 copies of Espgaluda II and Cave's regular-to-limited allocation ratio is 5:1, that means we'll only be allowed to order 100 copies of the limited edition. Due to this type of arrangement, NCS does not expect to be able to stock many copies of the limited edition and it'll likely skyrocket in price on the aftermarket upon release. We'll finalize the actual allocation ratio in the next few days after we submit our preorder numbers for the regular edition. A bonus Xbox 360 faceplate (viewable on our shopping gallery) is included in the limited edition of the game.
