«©NCSX» Taking place at the beginning of the Shinseiki Evangelion television serial, Gendou Ikari hands you the responsibility of live-in teacher to Rei Ayanami. When you first meet her, she's pretty banged up with bandages all over and her arm's cradled by a sling. Similar to but not quite a blank slate, your young charge is recovering from injuries and it's up to you to help her heal mentally and physically. With a set of six primary commands such as "talk," "goods," "costume," "town," and "schedule," you'll give Rei various duties to perform and gradually win her confidence.

Ayanami's day can consist of going to school, learning archery to improve her willpower, playing violin, or a trip to the amusement park, among other venues. Each activity improves or diminishes one or more of her attributes. Along the way, you'll get to see Ayanami in various pieces of clothing including a kimono and something that might be worn to a luau. In Asuka's episode, she can dress up in a pink 2-piece bikini, a sports outfit, a barmaid costume, and a school uniform.

The Nintendo DS conversion of Evangelion Ayanami Ikusei Keikaku is based on the Playstation 2 game which includes a scenario featuring Asuka Langley and increases the number of possible endings to a total of 50 rather than the 30 found in the original Dreamcast version. The NDS game also includes a bonus quiz game that tests the player's knowledge of Evangelion. Rei, Shinji, and Asuka stand behind podiums and answer multiple choice questions that appear on the touch screen.

NCS Game Notes
» The specs sheet for the game mentions that the card size is 2 gigabytes and the SRAM stands at 64K. That's bigger than the original DC game and about the size of the PS2 game. All of that Evangelion gaming goodness fits on a little bit of silicon.

» Evangelion Ayanami Ikusei Keikaku DS is played in "book-format" where the Nintendo DS is rotated 90° counterclockwise. Rei or Asuka appears on the left screen and the commands are shown on the touch screen. The dual screen format also allows for action-packed sequences that make use of both screens for dramatic effect.
