NCS Product Synopsis
Update: September 8, 2005
«©NCSX» Luffy and crew engage in another 3D fighting foray where their special abilities are mustered for maximum effect against opponents. The engine in the latest One Piece game uses two combo systems as follows:
Rumble Combo - Every blow registers on the combo meter which pops up in aqua and pink neon. Fighters may chain together punches, kicks, and special attacks which all register on the combo meter. When a mighty move is pulled off, the screen will pause for a microsecond and an animated sequence kicks off which shows the attack from multiple angles.
Fake Combo/Command Arts - Refers to a combo where a menu is bought up with six slots which registers each combo move. To pull off the Fake Combo, perform up to six combos quickly before the time limit exhausts itself. For example, one may choose to do a DOWN, LEFT, X BUTTON or a RIGHT, LEFT, O BUTTON followed by four other moves to pull off a series of smashes before the timer below the life bar runs out. It's called Fake Combo because the moves are not performed in real time but wrestled out in a relatively leisurely fashion which interrupts the natural flow of the game. During Fake Combos sequences, the camera will cut to different angles so players may watch the rain of blows pounded on a hapless target.
Game Modes are as follows:
Fighting Mode - Up to 6 players may battle
Gamble Mode
VS Fight Mode
Training Mode
Recording Mode
Stages in the game include Partys Bar, Little Garden, and FU-SYA Village. Thirteen characters are represented as follows:
Aokiji - Uses a head butt freeze attack that turns a foe into a block of ice.
Nico Robin - May pull off a wicked move where arms sprout from the floor and attack en masse.
Crocodile - Hook handed and wears a striped fur coat.
Tony Tony Chopper - Changes between its two forms - shrimp (Walk Point) and juggernaut (Heavy Point) thanks to eating the Hito Hito Fruit.
Roronoa Zoro - Triple sword handler who also uses one of the swords for defense. In a frenzied attack, the swords blur out a red and blue light show.
Sanji - Mighty kicks that have lengthy reach and may also perform an upside down helicopter kick. Sanji also uses his legs as a barrier guard.
Monky D. Luffy - Stretchy attacks and a strong jump ability. May perform an elongated kick when crouching for an upward smacking power blow.
Usopp - Wears a sachel and shoots projectiles that pack a wallop from his lime-green colored slingshot.
Nami - Fights with a collapsible blue staff. Uses the staff as a barrier and may perform a whirling windmill attack for multiple hits.
Smoker - Shoots out streams of solid smoke from his mouth. His teeth clenches on two cigars which provide the billowing attack clouds.
Enel (aka Eneru) - Sinewy warrior who wears a blue skirt and fights with a wooden staff. Wears a skullcap and has a big circular decoration which is sewn inside the back of his shoulders. May blast out an electrical attack.
Portgas D. Ace - Punches with rapid-fire bare fists and brother to Luffy.
Franky - Purple with yellow palm tree Hawaiian shirt wearing hipster with blue hair and a chain link necklace. Has massive forearms which pack a wallop and attacks by spinning and general pounding. Wears an embarrassingly small Speedo.
