«©NCSX» NCS didn't expect Cave's Ketsui - Kizuna Jigoku Tachi game to be revived after six years had passed since its debut in Japanese arcades. It's here today however and the game plays fast, fluid, and poses an enjoyable shmup experience on the Nintendo DS.

When we first heard of the port earlier this summer, we didn't think the NDS hardware was beefy enough to render a shooter where streaming wave after wave of bullets wash across the screen. We were skeptical but Arika has released a game that runs without any noticeable lag or slowdown. Although the coin-op original was a vertical aspect shooter, the NDS version doesn't look bad at all with its horizontal aspect screen. The most important facet for us however is the speed of the game and we're pleased in that respect.

Ketsui Death Label features a single-player mode, a multi-player mode, and a training mode which will help beginners learn how to twitch.

Bonus Schwag
The Nintendo DS version of Ketsui is bundled with a bonus Master Play DVD which shows an expert blowing through the game without losing a single ship. Good stuff if you're interested in watching how a seasoned master navigates through the bullet patterns.

Region-Free
