NCS Product Synopsis
Update: November 30, 2005

«©NCSX» Step into a mahjong parlor that's lit up like a discotheque, greet three attractive mahjong hostesses, and charm your way into their hearts by way of skillful playing and losing. We'll explain the losing part later. The aim of the game is winning at mahjong but another goal is to score a love interest among the eight comely gals who play mahjong. As your bankroll grows, the gals that have lost money to you will sour on your eligibility as a potential soul mate. However, other gals will gain a twinkle in their eyes since you've been on a winning streak and that means money that can be spent on them. Tactical players may also lose on purpose to gain the favor of a girl. Once a budding relationship blossoms, perhaps love may be found with a smiling mahjong hostess in a slinky dress.

NCS Game Notes™
* The intro to the game gives a peek of the gals in the game from their legs to their tops as they pop in and out of a weird amateurish video in silhouette form. Street photographs are later shown along with the gals superimposed on various scenes. After a bit of clowning and formal photography, the gals dress up in animal hats and ears and the intro is capped by the gals in bikinis - 9 photos per screen which fade out into silhouette and then back to normal photography.

* After entering your name, the scene changes to a night street scene where photographs are shown in sequence before gamer reaches the entrance of a building that has the colorful Gal Jan logo on the front. After entering the building, a laughing photograph of a gal speaks out and greets the gamer. Although she doesn't animate, a sequence of still photographs and conversation bubbles appear to convey her questions and statements to the player. After a while, the scene changes to a karaoke bar setting with colorful lights pointing in different directions. A few other girls introduce themselves and acquaint themselves.

* After introductions are made, the three girls that you just met sit down with you for a game of mahjong. The dice are rolled inside a plastic bubble and the camera pulls out to reveal a table full of MJ tiles. Press the O button to get rid of tiles that you don't need as each hand is dealt. As the game commences, the gals will hold conversations and wait for your reply. If your response is congruent with her mindset, she'll savor your company. If you're her opposite, she'll think platonic thoughts. If a gal wins, she'll be shown exulting in a little window and she'll utter a little comment. A losing gal will be shown crying in a window as well to show how the other half lives.

* Some gals are good sports and will congratulate a player for his good fortune when he wins. Other gals will feign a congratulatory posture but little tics give them away as shown by the game. Still other gals will show their fear that they've lost money and play the part of fainting heart with all the attendant expressions and body language to boot. Between matches, there's flirting, interaction, and short conversations between the players to make the game more than a straightforward mahjong simulation. All in all, the gals provide an enjoyable foil to the game. If one has to play mahjong, what better way than against attractive opponents? Beats a group of dour salarymen any day of the week.

* The gals all have over-the-top smiles and expressions when they win. They also practice poses and looks that are meant to convey the following emotions and emotional states: Sadness, self-satisfaction, happiness, encouragement, determination, and more.

* When some gals lose too much money, they'll bid farewell in good humor and new girls will join the table

* During the game, a horn, a bass, and a piano play for a little bit of atmosphere. One will feel like he's in a Las Vegas lounge judging by the music.

* The overall difficulty level of the game is average. The gals aren't the sharpest mahjong players that we've encountered but they can hold their own. Some gals will make you feel guilty when you win so that's one strength that they have when playing against the males in the audience.
