Summon Night 2

Summon Night 2 is a tactical strategy game with RPG elements where players take control of a male of female hero and venture into grid-based battlefields. The Summon Night games are story intensive with well developed characters who interact with other well developed characters. The protagonist is a summoner who may call upon creatures from the four worlds to aid and abet during battlefield dramatics.

Japanese NDS games may be played on North American and European NDS handhelds. There is no region-coding on Nintendo DS game cards.

» The first scene is titled ~Brand-New Start~ and starts in the protagonist's room.

» There's no way to skip the dialogue sequences. As much as we wanted to, we had to sit and watch the introductory sequences even though we've watched them before. Years ago. On the Playstation original. The initial introductory sequence will eat up about 10 minutes of your time before a battle starts up.

» The female character starts the game with 48HP and 42MP. She'll partner up with a armored compatriot named Reorudo for her first battle.

» To move, highlight your hero and press the "A" button. Press "A" again on the menu that appears. The range of movement will be highlighted with a light-blue color. The touch pen cannot be used to control the characters.

» When your hero is contiguous to an enemy monster, press "A" and then highlight the second menu option. The attack range will be highlighted in red. The attack system is more sophisticated than earlier S-RPGs because some heroes can attack diagonally in addition to the four cardinal directions.

» Once your turn is done, press the START button to give the monsters a chance to retaliate.

» Whenever one of your heroes is attacked from the front or from the side, he'll counterattack. To enhance the power of an attack, move behind a monster and strike for double HP removal and zero chance of a strike back.

» After each battle, the money, experience, and items won is tallied up in a comprehensive "Battle Report!!" Players who gained enough experience points during a battle can also be leveled up after the Battle Report and attributes increased by allocated Bonus Points that are awarded.

» The first chapter of the game is titled ~Explorers~ and continues where the prologue left off - in the protagonist's room. Lyndbaum is opened up for exploration where the entire city appears on the top screen while a partial view of the city appears on the touch screen. Players move a little magnifying glass to visit different areas that are marked by a blue orb. The entire city is surrounded by a fortress to keep undesirables out.

» A shop located in the southeast portion of the city allows players to buy or sell weapons, armor, and accessories. The shop may be found easily because it's marked with the English word of "Shop" directly above it.

» Bits of English pepper the menus although most of the game is in Japanese. When an event is waiting for your visitation, the word "Event!" will appear over the location which is usually marked with a red sphere as opposed to a blue sphere.
