NCS Product Synopsis
Update: June 21, 2006

«©NCSX» The English words "aha" and "eureka" share similar meanings. When one discovers a secret or hidden truism, the word "aha" may bellow forth from one's trembling lips. Similarly, when one finds out the true meaning of life, the word "eureka" may be hissed to no one in particular. With the latest "Brain Game" from Sega, moments of "aha" and "eureka" may be in order as the player goes on a path of discovery.

Sega teamed up with Kenichiro Mogi from the Sony Computer Science Research Lab to create a brain game which focuses on photographs and the differences in them. Professor Mogi is a specialist in brain science who's research centers on the relationship between the physical brain and the perception of the mind. For example, one may be prompted to stare at a photograph and then another photograph that's nearly identical to the first one. Point out the very subtle difference in the second photograph and prove that your brain generates enough electricity to power a hamster wheel.

Another photographic challenge uses only one picture but something gradually changes somewhere in the photo. While not as difficult as the first photo challenge, testers will have to dart their eyes around the screen to spot the change as it slowly occurs. A third exercise shows the user a series of short film featuring a guy who wears an "Aha!" t-shirt and an irregularity must be spotted. For example, when he puts a mug of cocoa into the microwave, notice that the mug that he takes out is different from the original one. Press the "O-button" to interject and then move the magnifying glass over the mug to point out the change and receive congratulations from Professor Mogi.

The software includes over a 100 exercises and over 4000 crisp photos which feature disparate themes and locations for a wide variety of subject matter to test perception.
The full name of the game is Sony Computer Science Kenkyuusho Kenmogi Kenichirou Hakase Kanshuu - Nou ni Kaikan: Aha Taiken.
